Lab Sample Management Software
Trusted by 100+ universities, UMCs, and research institutions globally.

Every sample’s location, lineage and audit trail in one system.
SciSure links every sample to the experiments that used it, records exactly where it’s stored, and keeps a full history of every change.
One shared sample system for every research group
Institutions run dozens of groups, each with their own freezers, spreadsheets, and naming habits. With SciSure, you have:
- Custom sample types with required fields, validation, and auto-numbering.
- Batch import to bring existing spreadsheets in without retyping.
- Search shared samples across groups, with saved filters and Excel export.

Know where every sample came from & where it is now
When a graduate leaves or an audit comes up, your sample records still tell the whole story: its parent samples, experimental records, and every move between freezers. SciSure brings you:
- Parent-child lineage linked to experiments that used or created each sample.
- Exact positions in freezers with barcode scanning.
- Environmental monitoring through Marketplace Add-ons for supported storage workflows.

Governance your research office can sign off on
Central buyers need to know who can see and change what. SciSure works with your existing sign-on, controls access by group and storage location, and records every change.
- Single sign-on (SAML, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and others.)
- Audit trails showing who changed what and when.
- Structured records that support audit readiness and regulatory review.
- Hosting in the EU or US, in private cloud or on-premises.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about SciSure's lab sample management software.
Lab sample management software keeps a record of every sample your lab holds: what it is, where it’s stored, how much is left, who owns it and which experiments used it. It replaces the spreadsheets and freezer maps most labs start with. For more details, read our guide to lab sample management. If you’re comparing vendors, see 5 sample management and tracking platforms compared.
Traditional LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) are built for QC (quality control) and testing labs, with fixed sample pipelines. SciSure is built for research. You design your own sample types, lineage and storage, and change them as projects change, with no process redesign. It isn’t a QC or clinical system. Learn more about R&D vs QC LIMS and LIS vs LIMS.
Yes. Each group in SciSure has its own sample types, storage and permissions, set by its group administrators. Groups can share samples with each other, and shared samples can be searched across the whole organisation. For example, Institut Pasteur rolled SciSure out across its research units in four waves after evaluating over 20 ELN/LIMS vendors.
Each sample can record its parent and child samples, so aliquots, extracts and cultures stay linked to where they came from. Samples are also linked to the experiments that used or created them, and you can follow that link from either side.
Yes. Existing sample and lab data held in spreadsheets can be migrated into SciSure as part of your initial setup.
Yes. Samples, storage units and compartments can all have barcodes. You can scan them with the SciSure mobile app or with connected scanners, including rack scanners like Eppendorf RackScan and Thermo Scientific VisionMate HSX. Labels print on supported Zebra and DYMO printers. Learn more about SciSure's integrations here.
Yes, temperature and humidity monitoring is possible through Marketplace add-ons like Elemental Machines, which uses sensors to monitor and record conditions in your storage areas.
Access is set by roles and permissions at group level. Storage units and compartments have their own extra controls. For example, you can reserve a rack so only authorized people can add samples to it. Every change to a sample is logged in an audit trail showing who changed what, and when.
SciSure connects to your existing login system (identity provider) through SAML, AD/LDAP, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta and others. You can choose cloud hosting in the EU or US, a private cloud in your region, or an on-premises installation. Compare SciSure's hosting options to find what works best for you.
