Last week, SciSure, together with Amsterdam Science Park and the Amsterdam Chemistry Network, hosted an evening of insightful conversations and meaningful connections at the Matrix Innovation Center.

With over 40 professionals from research, life sciences, and lab operations joining us, the event brought together people who share a common goal: making lab work more efficient, connected, and reproducible. The atmosphere was open, practical, and collaborative, exactly the kind of environment where real learning happens.

Check it out:

Turning complexity into clarity

Research environments are inherently complex. Data, equipment, protocols, compliance, and people must work in sync. When they do not, labs face challenges such as data loss, manual errors, inefficiencies, and limited traceability. These challenges set the stage for deeper discussions on how labs can operate more smoothly and reliably.

Twan Spenkelink shared a practical perspective on running a lab with the precision and consistency of a three Michelin-star kitchen.

Running your lab like a 3 Michelin-star kitchen

A key highlight of the evening was a talk by Twan Spenkelink, SciSure’s Director of Customer Success and Digital Lab Specialist. Twan drew a clear parallel between high-performing labs and 3 Michelin-star kitchens, where consistency, preparation, teamwork, and connected systems are essential.

Just as kitchens rely on integrated tools to deliver quality at scale, modern labs benefit from connected systems such as ELNs, inventory and sample management, equipment tracking, and workflows. When these systems work together, labs reduce errors, improve traceability, stay compliant, and produce more reliable, reproducible results.

From concept to practice: the workshop

Building on Twan’s talk, the evening continued with a hands-on workshop that brought these ideas to life. The workshop focused on demonstrating how the SciSure platform helps labs connect their tools, data, and workflows in practice.

Led by our Account Manager, Thom Weitenberg, the session walked participants through real-world lab scenarios, showing how digital lab operations can support daily work, from managing samples and inventory to ensuring audit-ready documentation. The workshop made it clear how an integrated platform can turn complex lab operations into streamlined, reliable processes.

Stronger together

We were also pleased to welcome DataChaperone, one of the many SciSure add-ons, as part of the workshop experience. Collaboration across tools and expertise highlighted the value of an open ecosystem, where integrations work together to support truly connected science.

Events like this are more than presentations or demos. They create room for real conversations, shared learning, and cross-disciplinary exchange. This is where scientific communities grow, ideas evolve, and better ways of working take shape.

More events are on the way! Join us next time and be part of a community that is actively shaping the future of research!
