Which lab platform fits your team?
For research institutes, university medical centres and universities running many lab groups. Compare ELN/LIMS workflows, institutional login, hosting and support.
Connect your experiments, samples, and lab operations in a commercial ELN
With SciSure, experiments link to the samples, freezer positions and equipment they use, and every sample shows where it came from.
Document your experiments in an open-source ELN
eLabFTW is a free, open-source ELN developed by Deltablot. Host it yourself, or pay Deltablot to host and support it.
Free and open source under the AGPLv3 licence
Experiments, templates, e-signatures and trusted timestamping
Records for samples, equipment booking and purchase requests
Storage locations and containers with capacity
API for outside integrations
Self-hosting, or paid hosting in Europe, North America, Asia and more
Connected ELN and LIMS with built-in sample management
SciSure brings ELN, sample management, inventory, and equipment management together in one platform. No need to switch between separate systems. Our team handles setup, data migration and training included within the same package.

Frequently asked questions
eLabFTW is a free, open-source ELN developed by Deltablot. SciSure is an ELN with sample management built in: you can trace a sample back to its parents, see freezer space on a map, find free slots and get alerts when stock runs low. Our team also handles setup, data migration, and training all under the same package. No separate payment required.
eLabFTW is an open-source solution that can be a good fit for laboratories looking for an ELN, particularly when they have the internal resources to manage hosting and maintenance. Make sure to confirm what’s offered within eLabFTW’s free plan, as some of their hosting options might be paid instead. SciSure offers connected ELN and LIMS capabilities, including sample tracking, storage management, inventory, and equipment management. Organizations can also choose from different hosting options and access implementation, migration, training, and ongoing support services. The right choice depends on your laboratory's workflows, IT resources, and requirements for managing research data. Check out our guide to whether free electronic lab notebook software is worth it for more details.
ELN software records your experiments, methods and results. LIMS software likewise helps manage the resources and processes that support your lab: from sample tracking and traceability to inventory, supply ordering, equipment bookings and maintenance schedules. It also keeps structured sample records and audit trails so teams can see what changed, when and by whom. If you need to connect experimental results with the samples, materials and equipment used, integrated ELN and LIMS capabilities bring that context together. Our guide to lab management systems explains the difference.
With SciSure, you can choose our cloud, a private cloud in the region you pick, or our software on your own servers. In the cloud, we handle updates and backups. On your own servers, your IT team looks after the servers and backups. Check out SciSure’s hosting options for more details.
Our policies follow GDPR and 21 CFR Part 11, and cloud data sits in ISO-certified data centres with off-site backups. On Private Cloud, you can connect your existing login system through SAML2 or LDAP. Our trust centre has the details.
Yes, through SciSure MCP, which connects compatible AI tools (including cloud services and locally hosted models) to information you have permission to access in SciSure ELN/LIMS. You can ask questions about experiments, samples, and protocols in plain language, including which experiments used a particular reagent lot or whether a protocol already exists for an assay. Access follows your existing SciSure permissions and is read-only, so connected AI tools can retrieve information without changing your records. For help using SciSure, Astra Iris is an AI support assistant built into the platform. It answers product questions, provides step-by-step guidance, helps troubleshoot settings and workflows, and can create support tickets when needed. Its answers come from official SciSure documentation, without accessing your experiments or research records. Astra is optional and can be enabled or disabled through the Marketplace.
Setup, data migration and training for your key users, admins and researchers. The exact scope depends on your package. Our European team works from Groningen and Berlin, with field support in France. We’ve rolled out SciSure at labs including Fraunhofer IZI in Leipzig and Institut Pasteur in Paris. See our guide to Customer Success for how it works.
Yes. Our team plans the move with you: which experiments, attachments and inventory records come across, and how they map into SciSure. We test a sample of your data before you go live.
